Liquid: water molecules closer than gases and greater than solids. Evaporation: change of liquid into gas and requires heat. Condensation: the change of gas into a liquid and releases heat. Saturation: is and equilibrium when each molecule that evaporates wants to condense. Not dependent on volume, but depends on mass. Mass of water vapor/total mall of air = specific humidity. Mixing ratio: mass of water vapor/total mass of dry air. Vapor pressure: total pressure exerted by the water molecules in and air parcel. Dalto(cid:374)"s law: states that (cid:373)ore water molecules = high vapor pressure. Saturation vapor pressure: the vapor pressure at which an air parcel will be saturated and changes with temperature. Based on this relationship, the saturation vapor pressure is recorded for a specific temperature and vice versa. Relative humidity: (actual water vapor pressure/saturation water vapor pressure) x 100. It determines the actual feel (kind of like wind chill like we use in winter).
