Document Summary
We changed our approach to air pollution globally after this smog was a result of coal burning. In december it was unusually cold in london. Coal was used a ton (soft coal, contains lots of sulfur) over london there was a thick layer of smog with high amounts of sulfuric gases. So thick that day was as dark as night. Numbers somewhere around 4,000 people died from the gases in the air over a weeks time. Mostly elderly or people with pre existing conditions. Figure shows the amount of deaths per day graphed against dioxide and smoke to show their correlation. Due to this many policies and regulations changed and became more strict this created a movement to change over to other sources of energy. Now london is much cleaner, all sorts of animals are repopulating areas they were previously extinct in. Everywhere was effected, many laces followed suit to clean their air too.
