Document Summary

Hisa06 - lecture 6 - laborers of the world. Britain advancement fuelled by slavery and laborers. Bonded labor and slavery is different in that with bonded labor, cultures and traditions are lost through the displacement. Though slavery is also about people who have been removed from their homes, the loss that bonded laborers feel are just as severe. There was a strong push for no more human laborers after the abolishment of slavery in. The beginning of indentured laborers was a way for slave owners to replace what they suddenly lost with a new form of labor that was outside of the law. The new ban on slaves led to the creation of a better control of labor workers, including keeping records of these laborers and making sure the employment of these coolies don"t involve anything that could be mistaken as slavery.
