Age vs. period vs. cohort effects: 3 different concepts all rltd to aging, age effects-linked to biological & social processes of aging specific to indvls. Most think this is where aging ends. Ex. varying rates of diseases across age grps. Some cancers have much more incidence rates at later ages in life: period effects- external factors that equally affect all age grps at a particular calendar time. Ex. envrmntl, social & economic factors e. g. war, famine, economic crisis. A war happened & nuclear missile was heading towards us that would affect everybody.
