Document Summary

Cancer and cell division: defect in the rate or ability or control of cell division in a normal cell, normal cells that are somehow modified into a cancer cell. Abnormal genes are driving a response/change in the cell. Then proliferates into more and more cells. Accumulation of abnormal cells causes the disease tumours, masses. Cancer could be because the abnormal cell can no longer function or the accumulating mass of abnormal cells is interfering with the functioning of the tissue around it. Cancer is a multi-hit event: normal cell has one event that leads to abnormal cell. Modification to the cell also makes it more prevalent in new cells selection for abnormal cell because they might be better adapted or more tolerated in the mass of tissues. Progressive accumulation of modification that ends up creating masses. Masses are made up of many different types of cells not just one type of abnormal cell.
