Age vs period vs cohort effects: 3 diff concepts that relate to aging & part of gerontology, age effects, period effects i. e. varying rates of diseases across age groups probability of getting certain disease increases w/ age. Linked to biological & social processes of aging specific to individuals. External factors that equally affect all age groups @ particular calendar time i. e. environmental, social, economic factors: cohort effects, variations resulting from unique experience/exposure of group of war, famine, economic crises subjects (cohort) as they move across time.
