Agriculture in general: agricultural systems exist on a spectrum, across all of these characteristics, caution against making (or committing to an unquestioning trust in my) broad characterizations, each category/ subcategory of agriculture is really a subdiscipline. Agriculture and resource use: agriculture is the main consumptive human activity for many natural resources. In particular, agriculture as a source of env"tal issues surrounding: Biogeochemical cycles (n, p, k: cumulatively, these changes are unprecedented. Fertilizers more than doubled the n, p, and k entering the biosphere. Agricultural and development: agriculture is arguably the most important dimension of development policy and practice. Agricultural and people: modern human history, socio-economic development intimately tied with agriculture, human populations and settlement patterns are directly related to agriculture (especially in current global south), begins with crop domestication and agricultural expansion, approximately 8,000 years ago.
