IDSC04H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Logic Model, Anger Management, Deeper Understanding
Document Summary
Lecture #5 theories of change: a results chain helps to simplify a set of assumed links between activities and planned results. These tools generally lack detail/specifics about the sequence of outcomes: toc driven by the need to demonstrate results (achieve success). Improves generalizability of evaluation results: contributes to social science theory. Program theory descriptive assumptions, i. e. the problem of wife abuse seen related to the ability of individuals to control/manage their anger, and knowledge about the law anger management program, and education program. We know, however, that it is not as easy as this results chain appears: one problem is that the intervention only has indirect effects. By use of graphic labels will not directly affect the behavioral outcome (i. e. quitting smoking). Smoking, like other behaviours is mediated by neural and situational processes: how and why the intervention works (or fails to work) will depend on mediating factors. Law of indirect effect (hansen and mcneal, 1996)
