LINB09H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Murmured Voice, Creaky Voice, Modal Voice
Document Summary
Glottis is the space between the voval folds. Glottal stop- vocal folds is completely close. Modal voice is just normal voiced: when we say something is voice 99% referring to modal voice. Vocal folds are move together and apart by the cartilages at the bottom. Little triangles are the things that move the vocal folds. Widest the vocal folds are going to be. As air passing through they do not vibrate. Air pressure builds then burst through the vocal folds. There is a little bit of suction- that makes the vocal folds come together. Together- air pressure builds up- the air burst through- opening the vocal fold- suction closes the vocal folds again- the repeat. Way more air flow passing through the vocal folds. Vocal folds are actually held apart more air passes through than normally. Vocal folds are held together normally but exhaling very quickly.
