Document Summary
What drives us to do our desires. Repressed or lost desires influence the creation of media artefacts and explain the mental drives activated by those artefacts. The approach is: grounded by 3 things: genesis of individual psychology, the psychology of the media artefact- what kind of desires are being portrayed and how and why. 3. the ways in which the two intereact in the process of media consumption. One of the first people to suggest that we all have different aspects of personality. We want things without being able to say why we want them. Preconscious-memories and stored knowledge, not always in the front of our minds but like an iceberg conscious we can always bring them front they are accessible to us. Unconscious- fears, selfish needs, sexual desires, shameful experiences( the dark dirty stuff that wants to hide form the world) id- the pleasure seeking part of our psychology, the part that wants fufillment.
