Obesity has become a very large problem in today"s society. It has been a contributor to numerous chronic diseases. Despite major advances in understanding brain regulation of feeding, treatments or therapies have yet to be created to combat this issue. Rewarding feelings we get when we eat. Study done by fothergill et al, tracked the participants from the end of show to a six- year follow-up. What they noticed was that in the beginning they were at 130- pound deficit. By the six- year mark, they were at a 45- pound deficit. The other study was looking at rats at 450g. When they put them on a food restriction, their weights went down. Once the restriction was stopped, those rats went back to their original weight. The hypothalamus plays a critical role in regulating body"s homeostasis. It regulates temperature, hunger, stress and other things.
