Document Summary

When something is being explained by reason and argument. Metaphysics is the study of ontology and being. Many of the metaphysical questions has been (cid:498)handed odd(cid:499) to science, such as: Epistemology is the study of the mind- of how the mind. Three theories of what philosophy is: fundamental questions of justification: there is many beliefs we agree to without hesitation and we deem them as common sense. Common sense provides us with knowledge about the world we live in via sight, hearing, touch and smell. Philosophy questions these assumptions that we make about ourselves, and the environment we live in- whether they are rational and defensible: solipsism: the idea that your mind is the only thing that exists. Philosophical questions are more general than those asked in specific sciences. None of the sciences bother with the question of whether physical objects actually exist or if everything is in our mind.
