To have a what it"s like experience. We can"t understand it in purely physically terms. Capacity to suffer (different from ability to feel pain) To have an awareness of internal and external environment. One of them is more complex, the other one is more of how we feel: nagel. Put ppl into experimental setting, flash a light in their blind area. Even if they can"t see, but if you asked them to guess, they"re right most of the time. Not conscious of what"s in front them & their ability to see . Not conscious of the info available to them. They"re not conscious of the direction of the arrow. Conscious of info means to be able to take it in and use it.
