The mind is not a physical thing at all. It"s related to the mind in a certain way. I can uses it to know things about the world. My senses have deceived me in the past, so i shouldn"t trust them. A powerful demon that is constantly deceiving me. We want to nd something that we can know for certain. A deceptive demon could be messing with me. My essential nature-the most important thing about me, the thing that makes me, me0is being a thinking thing. My body"s essential nature-that thing that is most important about my body, that makes my body what it is-is that it is a thing extended in space. My essential nature does not involve being an extended thing in space. So i am more then just my body. Therefore, my mind cannot be identical with my body. I can doubt that i have a body.
