Often peaceful, sometimes result in democracy, often no impact (rapid return of old officials). Social revolution = rapid, fundamental, and often violent franstomaiton of a country"s state structure, social structure, that is accompanied by mass-based revolts. Much more profound change in a country"s structure, highly violent. Create durable authoritarian regimes, create humanitarian catastrophes, foster new global ideologies. Class structure: large scale nationalization of private property, major land reform, destruction of land owning class. This will be very violent as many wealthy landowners will be upset that their land is being taken away.
