Forms of migration, free, forced, wanted and unwanted. Last week: humans are always mobile, have moved around. Migration has been driven by empire building, war and colonisation often through brutal means such as slavery. That the period from about 1840-1914 marked by very high levels of international migration encouraged by economic concerns and unrestrained by immigration restrictions. This was also the period where racially discriminating restructuibs were developed and implemented. After 1929 october into the 1930s, international migration declined because of the global economic downturn (great depression) Migration resumed after wwii has been subject to stricter controls than during the period of relatively free migration.
