Polc94 lec 04 class notes ecofeminism, and postcolonial feminism. The leaders of countries were not convinced that mainstreaming gender was important, thus organizations could work around, or convince them out of their resistance, this was back then when the idea was new and just getting off the ground. Strategic interest such as discrimination was given more precedence. Devoted to a neoliberal model, and capitalists were focused more on the economical side, which was getting women to the market. Developmental institutions have their own mission, e. g. world bank"s mission: market liberalization and economic growth. Not addressing the root on the problem, which is inequality. The way of looking at gender problems, began to be given attention in the 70"s. Chipko movement in india, women hunting trees by a commercial logging companies. Definition: linking environmental and feminist concern, along with a concern of spirituality. Believed there was an interaction between patriarchy and male domination by man.
