Thalamus: reception of integration of perceptual info -the passing of this info to the relevant cortical regions. Hypothalamus: monitors a number of characteristics of the blood that flows through the brain -controls pituitary gland. Pituitary gland: endocrine gland attached to the base of the skull. Master endocrine gland, targets receptors on other glans : endocrine glands release hormones over long distances, stimulating receptor sites causing physiological reactions.
