Document Summary

Clive wearing -> no long-term memory available, only short-term memory. He remembers deborah and his piano (procedural memory) We tend to use memory like a singular noun (e. g. i have a poor memory) The brain has a number of different memory systems which are processes. They sometimes do their own things and sometimes interact. Episodic memory -> memories encased like episodes (e. g. you remember that time you rode a bike when you see a bike) Semantic memory -> facts and concepts that are similar to common knowledge but it is just things that we know because we have been exposed to the context so much that it is unnecessary to remember. Often a sensory trace or stimulus remains after the stimulus is gone. These traces are termed sensory memory, and they tend to be very shorted lived. Visual sensory memory -> iconic memory (george sperling)
