Law of e ect: a behaviour that is followed by a +ve consequence will tend to be repeated. +ve reinforcement: the tolman e ect (law of e ect) behaviour is followed by an appetitive stimulus. Behavioural tendency s reinforced by the addition of something good following the action. Ve reinforcement: reinforce a behaviour by subtracting something bad. Response cost: taking away certain things if things are not done in a certain way a good thing is taken away. Ex. parents say that you have to come home by 12 and if you don"t then they stop paying your phone bill. Extinction: when the dog releases something is not worth barking @ anymore ex. little kid runs out naked . parents tell friends to not pay any attention to him to prevent him from doing it again. Shaping: rewarding successive approximations for an organism to learn a new behaviour.
