Emotions have a powerful effect on the way we do or say things. It could be considered as the enemy of rational thought since it is something that emotions fight against. For example, your conscious mind says to wake up early to get to university on time. However, you may not want to wake up, which is due to your emotions. Thus, your rational mind is fighting against your emotions. Motivation tends to move us emotionally, since a person wants to feel good and act as a functional member of the society. This causes a person to perform various actions. Motivation makes a person go forward in life, while rational thought leads them in a certain direction.
