Document Summary

Study of attitude formation is the study of how people form evaluations of persons, places, or things. All adjectives are not created equal because some stand out more to us. Central traits some traits may be more important than others in terms of organizing our impressions of others, e. g. warm/cold vs. polite blunt. The primacy effect the order with which we encounter traits matters, with earlier traits having the largest effect on your attitude towards that person: intelligent, industrious, impulsive, critical, stubborn, envious. Attributions are clearly important to the impressions we form of ourselves and others. One clear distinction in how we form our attributions is the disposition (internal) vs. situation (external) attributions we make when we witness. If the consensus is low, then the trait is attributed to the person but if it applies to people in general, it does not speci cally refer to them only.
