Aggression & cooperation: aggression: behaviour w/ purpose of harming another, why are animals sometimes aggressive, aggression & cooperation both serve same purpose: survival. Why aggress: 1 hypothesis for why humans & other animals aggress is frustration- For same reason we are also sometimes cooperative aggression hypothesis: animals aggress when their desires are frustrated i. e. organism a frustrates organism b"s desire for food, so. Organism b attacks organism a: some researchers argue hypothesis too narrow, humans often aggress whenever they"re feeling negative emotional states. Individual differences in aggression: although all humans aggress, some humans more likely than others to do so. Younger men w/ more testosterone = more aggressive. Women w/ more testosterone = more aggressive: what factors make humans more likely to aggress, biological factors. Biology & aggression: greatest predictors of individual"s level of aggression are, men significantly more aggressive than women, testosterone appears to be implicated.
