Studying individual differences: most psychological research aims to understand the average human this is sometimes called nomothetic research. There is no such thing as an avg human because we are all diff. We live in egotarian society (we are all equal) but we are not because science brings out the different issues and there will be controvosory. Intelligence: many countries invest in tax payers money for education because countries like canada strongly believe that the smarter the people are the more prosperous the country is in future (canada has the highest educated people) We are funded for education by ourselves & family and second source is by every other canadian who is paying taxes: an ability to measure intelligence might be beneficial in a couple of ways . It allows you to assess whether certain educational approaches lead to higher levels of success (to shape educational system) It may allow one to tailor a child"s education to their current abilities.
