Document Summary

Psya02 lecture 13 the social animal. Humans social creature even those of us who strive to be unique still want to be part of a group. In fact, several experiments show that humans have a strong tendency to conform when they find themselves in groups: e. g. Milgram"s (1963) study is perhaps one of the most shocking of all psychological experiments. You came to the experiment and with you or at the same time, another student shows up who also claims that he or she is here for the experiment. Confederate is always the student, the real subject is always the teacher. The teacher can"t see the learner, the learner is hooked up an electro-device, and the teacher is shown this and the teacher is going to ask the learner questions. When the learner gets the answer wrong, you shock the learner. Start by a slight shock, then lastly give a dangerous shock.
