Document Summary
Individualistic western model for needs/ motivation that is mostly inaccurate due to evidence base. Pyramidal structure with one need requiring fulfillment before focusing on other need. All about becoming a better person and all you can be. Motivation : is the process by which activities are started, directed and continued so the psychological or physical needs or wants are met. Motivation to complete assignment and get it done early to go to party is an example of a goal directed behaviour. Motivated individuals continue working and varying their behaviour from time to time until they achieve their goal, behaviour between individuals is different. Drive: a state of unrest/ irritation that energizes one behaviour after another until one of them removes the irritation. Drive reduction theory : proposes that animals strive to reduce their drive as much as possible. Once all needs are met people become inactive.
