Cognitive appraisals: the way you perceive an event changes how you cope with an event or even see it as a stressor to begin with. Heart rate increases, blood pressure rises, blood sugar rises, blood flow directed to internal organs. Adrenal glands secrete adrenalin (fight or flight notion) Sex glands: pmt, irregular periods, low libidos, prostatitis, night sweats, Muscles and joints: pain, tension, fibromyalgia, fluid retention. It"s normal to have some stress in life, and some stresses are in fact beneficial with helping us learn to cope, but continued stresses and major stresses can cause health problems. Whether something is a stressor or not is psychological how you view it or think about it.
