Document Summary

Hypnosis-suggestion; the idea that if you tell people things in a certain way, they are more likely to believe you or to do things a certain way. Freud came to believe that everything we do is motivated by instinctual desires that provide psychic energy: that motivational force that moves us to do something. Many of these drives, we are not even aware of, and they push us to engage in certain behaviours. Freud concluded that there were three entities in the mind: id, ego, and superego. The manner in which our internal energies are released determines our personalities. Literally means it. it was the most primal self that wanted things, and wanted them now: immediate gratification. It had desires, like to be warm, well fed, thinking in a very animalistic nature. The pleasure principle: the desire to obtain immediate gratification in whatever form it may take.
