(5 weeks) Atachment is the lifelong emoional bond that exists between the infants and their mothers or other caregivers, formed during the irst six months of life. Secure atachment is indicated when an infant explores the situaion freely in the presence of the mother, but displays distress when the mother leaves, and responds enthusiasically when the mother returns. Caregivers who are sensiive and responsive to an infant"s needs are more likely to develop a secure atachment with the infant.
