Document Summary
Moivaion the process by which aciviies are started, directed, and coninued so that physical or psychological needs or wants are met. Psychologists have made strides in understanding complicated moivated behaviors. But many human moivaions are sill puzzling or seem illogical when scruinized. They are goal directed behaviors moivated individuals keep working unil they reach their goal. They vary from ime to ime and one individual to the next. If an individual varies the behavior and persists unil reaching a goal, it is a moivated behavior. Homeostasis: homeostasis is the maintenance of an opimum level of biological condiions within an organism. Set point (20 or what?: detector variable (current temperature, or level of hunger) Correcional mechanism (regulatory behaviours to reach set point: negaive feedback. By extension, drive-reducion theory would predict that once all needs have been met, the organism would become inacive. But people seek variety and acivity in life, not a condiion of non-simulaion.
