Document Summary
Seizure study: participants in separate rooms. In reality only one participant others were recorded voices. Role of helping and attributions: making an attribution = assigning a cause to other person"s behaviour, takes into account internal and external causes. Much of the approach depends on theoretical perspective: evolution, learning (what"s been reinforced, social exchange vs communal relationships, personality, state: mood, negative state relief, social norms. After research you can move onto: conference presentation, publications: journal article, book, monograph, book chapter. Review: sums up existing literature in the field/area/topic. Theory: deals strictly with theory, theory development, connections between theories. Don"t settle for the first thing you come across. Stick with top journals: reputable lists, apa journals, journal impact factor. Tackling the article: read abstract, read discussion, skim the article. Observe how it is set up, how long it is, how many experiments or parts to the study, what the key findings were.
