Scale: response opinions to a single question, ex. No: what type of scale is the researcher using for this question, what kind of scale was that measured on, series of questions that measure the same concept or related questions. Without a good system of measurement, a study could be meaningless: ex. Gender is a good example of this: the field of psychometrics might be for you, measurements are used in many areas. Depends on the way a variable is operationalized. Even the most measurable concept can be operationalized in different ways: ex. Income: value of home/value of homes in neighbourhood, net worth, ex. Construct: (usually) complex concept that can"t be measured directly. Examples: intelligence, introversion, self-esteem, culture, teamwork. Objective personality tests: specific questions with specific responses option (ex: t/f) Projective personality tests: ambiguous stimuli and open-ended responses (ex: rorschach inkblot test, tat)
