Focuses on behaviour of communities and groups, not individuals: personality psychology focuses on how differences between individuals influence thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Situations can often determine behaviour despite individual differences: e. g. Situations that determine behaviour can be shown through milgram"s study of obedience. The milgram experiment (the power of the situation) It is described as a study of learning. The participants are instructed to shock another participant for any wrong answers: the other participant is a confederate who never receives any real shocks.
