Document Summary
Lec 04 chapter 5 personality dispositions over time stability, coherence and change. Personality development continuities, consistencies and stabilities in people over time and the ways in which people change over time. Developmental milestones that would cause someone to change (ex. hormones) Are traits stable as we develop or do they change. Sexual interest increases at puberty for almost everyone. Changes or constancies that apply more or less to everyone. Changes that we all go through in navigating from infancy to adulthood. Ex. car insurance for a 30 year old is cheaper than a 16 year old because impulsivity decreases in everyone = population level of personality change. Changes or constancies that affect different groups differently (sex differences, cultural/ethnic) White women more at risk for eating disorders. These issues are located at the individual differences level of personality analysis. Long thought to be due to parents and family influences.
