Lecture 7: structural functionalists: more schooling will reduce educational gap, conflict theorists: more exposure to education, inequality is worse, hard to research these conflicting views ideally, we should find a place where schools do not exists. Educational attainment for girls: girls begin their educational careers doing better than boys in elementary school, but fade away in high school, with considerably fewer of them going on to university. In classroom settings, teachers favoured boys: boys are more assertive and boisterous, school textbooks under represent female characters, university professors giving more face time to male than female students (more attention given to male than female questions)
