Vygotsky= cog dev and social experiences interact child is constantly talking to themselves and increasing their understanding of the world; language helps children think about their actions fundamental for higher cog processes (memory, problem solving) laid the foundation for self-guidance. Peer disagreements= important for learning cog abilities= disagreements less important for cog dev than peer support. Important of active participation= child is active in their context.
