PSYB32H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Concurrent Validity, Criterion Validity, Internal Consistency
Document Summary
Assessment is important b/c: every person is different, treat them as different individual, psychological symptoms different from person to person. Study/ research to be scientific it has to be reliable and valid. When you administer result from one occasion is the same for the second occasion. Reliable if for example iq is same first and second time if it is different than it is not reliable. Useful when trait is stable over time. Some things can cause results to change over time. Memory test won"t be the some because the condition has changed over time. Trait or construct is stable over time: inter-rater reliability refers to the degree to which different raters give consistent estimates of the same behavior, alternate- form reliability. Give test on day 1 and 5 day later as well. Higher the degree correlation between the two tests: internal consistency reliability. Items on test are related to one another.
