Document Summary
Perceptual representation system (prs): responsible for the mental phenomenon of priming. E. g. when i say doctor, we think of semantically and mentally relevant ideas associated with do(cid:272)to(cid:396)(cid:859)s. be(cid:272)ause the(cid:455) a(cid:396)e auto(cid:373)ati(cid:272)all(cid:455) a(cid:272)ti(cid:448)ated, it should (cid:271)e easie(cid:396) a(cid:374)d faste(cid:396) to (cid:396)e(cid:272)o(cid:448)e(cid:396) it. When you read a list of words, and are asked to do a word stem completion task. When you are primed with a certain concept, you fill out primed possibilities much faster than the unprimed word. A more difficult version of this task is the fragment completing task instead of showing the first half of the world, they might show letters. You can get this in more abstract ways. E. g. you can show people images of objects that are structurally possible, and you can show them images of structures structurally impossible. When you are primed with seeing structurally possible objects, it helps you see other structurally process similar objects that you have never seen before.
