Startle eyeblink response: eye blink measured by electrode under eye, eyeblink response can index emotion, negative emotion amplifies startle response, positive emotion inhibits startle response. Ideally suited to measure automatic emotional response: cant control this, what you see in front of you can determine how hard you blink. Asked what do you think of these black faces in front of you or black individuals in front of you. Measured to see if they blink more w black than white faces. Graph: self report, three groups, bigots show positive affect greater for white faces than black faces, high in internal but low external.
