Document Summary
Ethic of autonomy: emphasizes individual freedom and rights, we in western cultures tend to focus on this, we chose what we want to do and not. In the example of dogs, the dog has the right of its own. Ethic of community: emphasizes our responsibility to conform to community roles and expectation, you have a role to serve in society and if you violate that then you are violating morality. Ethic of divinity: emphasizes the sanctity of perceived natural order", respect for god"s creation. They focus heavily on ethics of autonomy. Looked at moral reasoning of indians and americans in moral dilemmas (do i help the person or not?) Extreme need: everyone help when it came to the extreme need of helping someone who is dying. In india, even more moderate need they helped all people, no matter relationship. In america, less than 50% say its morally wrong if it"s a stranger.
