Document Summary
Psyc23- lecture 5 february 9, 2012 ( refer to the lecture slides for further information) Point to muscles on faces can translate and measure real emotion. Darwin: electrically activating muscles on face producing expression. Our biology is organized by these emotions. When we are angry, our biology is different than when we are happy. Darwin: each emotion evolved to solve different purposes. Experiment: to relive past emotion or to manually putting face into expression. It is possible to differentiate emotions from specific indicators. Anger and fear are the most difficult to differentiate visually. Anger produces an increase in temperature while fear produces a drop in temp (cold) Hypothesis: feeling a certain way, the whole world looks as if they are feeling the same emotion. What you feel is what you see. Experiment: emotion tapes= videos used to convey happy or disgust emotions. Gave options for intensity in faces showed. Happy condition: when they saw a face, they saw multiple options.
