Document Summary
When one drinks alcohol in a recreational context, and they drink more and more, they can achieve the different states in this figure. The first stage that people describe subjectively and can even be observed objectively is intoxication, and the grey area is gross intoxication which leads to a label called stupor, and finally blackouts and unconsciousness followed by death. When people have alcohol poisoning, it tends to be accidental not intentional. Otherwise, most people do not try to commit suicide via alcohol consumption. At a low blood concentration, alcohol leads to improvement in mood, feelings of elevation, not to the extent of euphoria though. If there was anxiety to begin with, it is reduced from a subjective standpoint. Alcohol stupors sensory systems are dulled when it comes to discriminating sensory stimuli as well as poor cognitive function, difficulty engaging in regular activities that are social, such as conversation, word order and syntax etc.
