Aim for the last 5 years (but there are expectations- if sth isn"t talked about for a long time) How mother is feeling, if she"s stressed, if the stress response is a big one, chronic, traumatic has tremendous effect on the child; immune dysfunction. Mom exposure to flu virus/genital herpes virus. Risk for schizo goes up from 4-10 folds. Psychotic outcome; esp if mom has a big immune response. Timing of the stress/trauma is important, diff times may have differential effect. Esp. detrimental when baby"s brain is in critical developmental phrase. Third trimester: heighten cortisol/anxiety/risk for adhd at 3 months old.
