Misconceptions abot mental illness lead many people to be ashamed and prevent them from seeking help. Dispelling these myths is a powerful step toward eradicating. Four of the 10 leading causes of disability worldwide are mental disorders. Among developed nations, including canada, mahor depression is the leading cause of disability. Also near the top are bipolar, schizophrenia, etc. Mental disorders are not true medical illnesses like cancer. Because we don"t know the specific cause, doesn"t mean its not real. People with a severe mental illness are usual dangerous and violent eg. grey hound bus murder, psychosis, had a hallucination. People with severe mental illness are more likely to be taken advantage of or mistreated. Mental illness is the result of bad parenting.
