Things that happen in life this focuses externally things happen that change your mood. Predominant western conception is happiness = positive subjective appraisal + feelings people describe. If you can get ppl to think they are happier, maybe they can be happier. Its hard to change objective life circumstances, bcz u cant always control things that happen to you. Best way to increase happiness is to be more like happy people. Research has largely focused on what works rather than why or how. No explanation in textbook on why this is a better approach, or the mechanism of this approach. If you are happier, maybe youa re more resilient to daily stresses.
