Document Summary
What does it mean to be intelligent: there is a colloquial use of words referring to intelligence. People use words that correspond to intelligence all the time. We have an implicit understanding how what intelligence is: you want to define intelligence in a way that is flexible enough to capture all of the environments that we may be intelligent in. For example: being intelligent in the context of a class, might reflect your ability to do well on an exam or ask questions. Intelligent in the context of a jungle would be quite different. These are the broad ways in which people can be intelligent. Intelligence is the hypothetical mental ability that enables people to direct their thinking, adapt to their circumstances and learn from their experiences. it is being able to understand your settings, think about them and draw on past experiences.
