This lecture contained mostly notes from chapters 1-3 and is really a continuation of what he started prior. Words coming from the mouth seem to be connected to me. Words coming from the page seem to be disconnected from particular speakers. Words from the printed page seem to be things that segment the human acts of thinking or language use. With more printed material we have a revolution in our education system and how we categorize and analyze information. The book can replace the instructor, less social approach to education is born. When we have the shift from oral to scribal it is gradual. The lector brings life to the writing. Adam muller makes the claim that the written language almost chokes the life out of the meaning of word (cipher)
