Those with power can exert their definition on other like academics, people with religious power. Definition of religion stays there until someone encourages us to change it. Religion is like a resource like fossil fuels etc. Idea of religion can feel into the needs of people. If you attend a church of institution are you religious: people might identify as religious but as a scholar it doesn"t work. It"s a murky kinda of way that how is someone more religious than another. Going to church every week doesn"t mean you are.
