Populaion explosion" populaion is growing rapidly and it is unstoppable (we are currently in one) They want you to see populaion explosion as bad, so that people do something about it. Thomas robert malthus concerned with efects of unchecked populaion growth. Two facts people must eat, they are driven by a strong sexual urge. One assumpion food supply increases slowly and arithmeically, populaion size grows quickly and geometrically. Only two forces can old populaion growth in check: prevenive measures (ex. Aborion [called them vices" because he morally opposed them]) and posiive checks (ex. Malthusian trap: cycle of populaion growth followed by an outbreak of water, that keeps populaion growth in check. Said populaion might luctuate but it has a natural upper limit. Technological advances allowed food to be produced rapidly people are not starving because we do not have food to feed them, they are starving because of human decisions.
