SOCB43H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Mechanical And Organic Solidarity, Social Fact, Southern Sociological Society
Document Summary
Why: we look at two pairs of social facts, external & objective: does not matter if you like the rules or not. Learn about pathologies (three pathologies: anomic division of labour, lack of regulation. Forced division of labour: there are limits that are established, uncoordinated division of labour, when you have a mismatch of a personality of a role. For example: you have someone that is well organized and highly education, impatient and hates children. They are not the best person to become a teacher; but, the person can be but wont do a good job at it. Solution: getting talent scouts, person who can evaluate people: how can sociology point society in the right direction as society changes (we"ll cover this later today, although some of the solutions we"ve covered speak to the points) If we have a lack of regulation in the division of labour, people can feel very unsettle.
